Why Selling This Fall Makes Sense
Don’t assume you’re better off waiting until next spring to list your home—this fall presents a great opportunity for home sellers.

There are three reasons why you should consider selling your home this fall.
First, you’ll face less competition. Because so many homeowners will wait until the spring to list their homes, you’ll really get a leg up on the competition by listing this fall. Buyers who are out searching for homes in cold weather are more serious and more qualified, which means you’ll deal with fewer showings on your way to finding the right buyer for your home.
Second, market conditions are changing. The seller’s market we had over the past several years has somewhat spoiled homeowners. Everyone assumes prices will continue to climb, so they think that waiting to sell will mean more money in their pocket. In reality, though, the opposite can happen. If current trends continue and we see more homes on the market and fewer contracts, your home’s price can actually decrease if you wait to put it on the market.

Lastly, weather conditions are changing. As you know, this is the final time of year before the snow comes into play. If you have to leave your home because there’s a showing scheduled for it, it’s certainly easier to take a stroll to your local park or coffee shop while the weather is still pleasant. Chances are your home will still photograph well, and you’ll be able to enjoy next spring and summer so much more with your home sale behind you.
